My great grandmother was Minnie Lymburner, 1868-1962 (married Frederick Stewart), Her parents were Aaron Lymburner (1820-1900) and Marie Swarts, Then it goes Chrstopher Lymburner (1795-1854), Matthew Lymburner (1765-1832), Matthew Lymburner (1742-1788), John Lymburner (1721-1769).

18 Jul 2023Very nice to “meet” you as well. I am going to Hamilton in Ontario in August to meet some Canadian cousins for the first time. Most of them are of my Stewart lineage. I have had little interaction with my Lymburner cousins. I plan to see the Lymburner cemetery while I am there, along with others. Have you done any DNA tests? There is a slight chance that we could still share DNA at the 5th cousin level.

26 Jan 2022I was adopted by Charles Raymond Kyte who was born December 16 in Tillsonburg Ontario to parents Harold Kyte and Gladys Kyte nee Fletcher. Charlie was married at the time to Irene Florence ? last name at that time as they both had previous marriages. Charlie had 3 son from his first marriage Irene had no children. Charlie had. Charlie had 1 brother and 1 sister who died. I do not know the details of her death. Charlie and his father trained horses for sulky racing. Charlie at 17 won an award for show jumping his horse Scottychink. Charlie died from cancer over 35 years ago! I call him Charlie here, but he really was my Dad!

Do you think he was married twice or is that info wrong? On an Ancestry trees list, I found Charles Raymond Kyte, born 1925, married to Florence Irene McMillan, b 1917. And in a Toronto paper I found a horse Scotty Chink in a 1935 Detroit (flat) race for 2 year olds. So same people? Maybe same horse? But I’ve got some gaps in there maybe you can help fill. I am the great grandson of Lorne Lymburner. I found the work you did on the family tree so fascinating. Thank you. I cannont imagine the amount of effort that went into finding all that. My grandma and most of my family still live within a few miles of where my great great grandparents started out. As a side note im also the caretaker of the Docstader cemetery and Lymburner Cemetery in Caistor where so many of our relatives are buried. My name is Gordon Revey.
My maternal Grandfather is Burton Laverne Lymburner b 1907. I learned this about two years ago. Burton is the Father of my Mother — Anne Bradley — who was adopted and raised by the ARTHUR family in Elora, Ontario, Canada.
Thanks for providing a great web site for sharing wonderful family photos and history. Your site also provides a portal for communications with other Lymburners and I have a compelling mystery to share with all family under John Jay Lymburner born Abt. 1802 (I have not found any birth records).
I have submitted my DNA for testing at all major sites in the United Sates and the UK.
As a nerdy-engineer, I have been studying DNA science and analyzing how my specific DNA segments connect to others with matching DNA segments.
Since my Mother was adopted and my birth father was an unexpected man, 100% of my true family was either unknown or dead wrong.
I am now devoted to understanding my true family lines based on DNA science. I have been tediously studying family trees of hundreds of matching cousins to find and plot common ancestors. I have a lot of data.
From the start, I have had twenty or so matching DNA Cousins that I could not connect to my established family lines. They all match me and a known Lymburner 1st Cousin.
After lots of head-scratching and time-and-place analyses, I have concluded that the most probable Father of John Jay Lymburner b 1802 is a MERRITT.
Maybe the death-date of William Merritt (First Husband of Catherine Secord) is wrong; or the birth date of John Jay Lymburner is incorrect. I have noticed that photos of the grave marker of William Merritt do not show a legible date of death. Has anyone seen it in person? I was born in Ontario, but now live in Colorado so it may be some time before I can inspect the grave marker.
The MERRIT line – through PARKER goes to the Plantagenets in England. My DNA is connecting to all families below and above William Merritt. Many of my unresolved DNA matches are now fitting in nicely to connections to MERRITT.
Other surnames that connect to my DNA matches between me and MERRITT include HORTON, HOYT, PURDY and BRUNDAGE.
Is anyone else applying genetic genealogy investigations on their Lymburner lines below John Jay Lymburner?
My family surname is REVEY and my Bio-Father’s name is Trent. I am not changing my name. My Dad that raised me – Paul Revey – was good man. The Lymburner and Merritt names are new to me and I have no stake in one over the other; I follow the DNA to logical conclusions. None of this changes who we are!
Another Lymburner family member has suggested that one of William Lymburner’s brothers – who were in the same area – might also be a Father of John Jay Lymburner; they share the same DNA.

I agree that there is a lot to digest here. I have been working on this for three years! My original search was for unresolved DNA matches that would lead to an adopted maternal Grandmother born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1887. I have located her family tied to German and Swiss families that emigrated to Canada during the US Revolutionary War.
As time went on, I built a large web of family groups confirmed by DNA-Match-triangulation connections. This group also matches my Lymburner 1st Cousin. I was astounded when I plugged in a potential MERRITT Father for John Jay Lymburner and many of my unresolved matches started connecting to me exactly as they should, based on or genetic distance (total centimorgans).
I am looking forward to sharing my finding with you and others that are serious about reviewing what I am finding.
